Introduction

Established in 1999 by Mariano Garca, the celebrated former winemaker of Vega Sicilia, and Javier Zaccagnini, Aalto has become one of Ribera del Dueros benchmark producers. The winery is devoted to expressing the complexity of the regions old-vine Tempranillo through careful site selection and minimal intervention winemaking. With a focus on precision and balance, Aalto works with small plots from over 200 hectares of vines, many between 40 and 80 years old, to craft wines of depth and elegance.

Wine Description

Aalto Crianza 2021 presents a deep garnet colour with vibrant purple highlights. The nose is expressive and layered, offering aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and wild berries, accented by subtle notes of liquorice, cedar, and sweet spices from its time in French and American oak. On the palate, this 100% Tempranillo is medium to full-bodied, showcasing a harmonious blend of concentrated dark fruit, polished tannins, and refreshing acidity. The wine reveals a silky texture with excellent balance, leading to a persistent, elegant finish with hints of cacao and clove. Ideal for drinking from 2024 to 2032, this vintage delivers both approachability in its youth and the structure for graceful ageing.
