Founded in 1999 by Mariano Garca, former winemaker of Vega Sicilia, and Javier Zaccagnini, Aalto has swiftly risen to prominence as one of Ribera del Dueros most esteemed producers. The winery is dedicated to crafting wines of depth and elegance, sourcing fruit from some of the regions oldest vineyards, many over 60 years of age, and adhering to minimal intervention practices that showcase the unique terroir of each plot. Aalto’s philosophy emphasizes precision and patience, with extended ageing and careful vineyard management as cornerstones of their production.

Wine Description

The Aalto PS 2021 is a striking expression of Tempranillo, displaying a deep, opaque purple hue. Aromatically, it unfolds with layers of ripe blackberries, cassis, and plum, interwoven with notes of violets, graphite, and subtle vanilla from its refined oak ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, offering an opulent core of dark fruit supported by finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The texture is plush yet structured, leading to a long, persistent finish laced with hints of dark chocolate and sweet spice. Composed entirely of Tempranillo, this wine balances power with elegance and promises optimal drinking from 2025 through 2040.
