Introduction

Rust en Vrede, founded in 1694, is proud to be a part of a three-hundred-year-old wine tradition. The Engelbrecht family has focused on the production of red wine exclusively since 1977, with an emphasis on Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Rust en Vrede has worked hard to establish itself as one of South Africa’s premier red wine estates, producing full-bodied, nuanced wines that represent the terroir’s individuality.

Opaque in colour with prominent aromas of cassis, blackberry, bramble and mulberry. The dark fruit is layered with savoury notes of cured meat and dried herbs. Rich fruit follows on the palate, sustained by fresh acidity and fine, mouth-coating tannins. Flavours of sandalwood, allspice, worn leather and pencil shavings add complexity and depth to this classically styled Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.
